5.0

The second installment of this series opens up relatively calm.  Percy hasn’t come across a single monster all school year, and he believes he can finally complete a school year without getting expelled.

Of course, chaos hits almost immediately.  Percy and his new friend Tyson are attacked by monsters, and Annabeth shows up to save the day.  Percy is then told that the camp is in trouble and they need to get back immediately.

Readers are taken on a journey to fight a cyclops and steal a magical healing item - the Golden Fleece.  This is the only thing that can save the camp.  With many near misses and a ton of new experiences, the heroes are once again thrust into a battle to save the western world.

We meet a few new faces along the way, while also checking in with some of our favorite characters.  This book did a great job setting up what is to come next.  I can already feel the foreshadowing of the loss and sacrifice Percy will have to endure before all of this is over.

All in all, I am very excited about the next installment.
