Out of the Shallows
by Samantha Young
I wanted to love this. Samantha Young's books, for me, are pretty much always five stars. This was a bit harder for me to get through that usual. The writing, as always, is excellent. I just couldn't get past Charley in this. I loved her in book one but I didn't even recognize her in this book. Jake was perfect and at times I was shocked he was still fighting for her. I sort of get where Charley was coming from but I still can't get behind what she did. I am really glad
One of my favorite things about the author's books is the wonderful supporting characters. This series was no exception. And I have to say, Ms. Young writes incredibly rich characters. She goes deep inside their heads and I feel like she truly knows them.
I will continue to one-click each and every one of Samantha Young's books, even if this one wasn't my favorite.

Charley ended up in therapy. It made me really believe that her and Jake could make it. And the scene where they reunited was awesome. My only complaint is that we didn't get to see too far into the future. My hope is that it's because we are going to see more of these characters in another book. One of my favorite things about the author's books is the wonderful supporting characters.
