Old Turtle: Questions of the Heart by Douglas Wood

3.0

This book is about asking deep philosophical questions of life to this giant wise turtle. I think the problem with the set up is its question and answer, question and answer. There is little action and asking so many questions at once is too much. I don’t think it’s a good delivery system.

There is beautiful artwork and it’s an interesting story. The people are diverse in age, gender, and race. I was interested, but there are 6 deep questions answered and by the time I got to the 6th, I forgot the 1st 2. I don’t think it works all that well. I guess being a book you can go back and reread them.

The nephew thought the giant turtle was cool, but he hated this book. It bored the life out of him. He kept asking me to quit and get a good book to read. I did finish this with him, but he hated it and gave it negative stars. He said it was beyond boring. He’s not a big thinker at this point. So no more Douglas Wood books for him.
