The Buddha in the Attic by Julie Otsuka

4.0

I read this soon after The Swimmers. Both were beautiful, quietly moving and singular. Both used a pattern of repetition that I found briefly engaging but of which I soon grew restless. I wish it were used more sparingly in both.
Otsuka has a gift for using detail and micro-vignettes to cut to the core of life.
