Immortal Dark by Tigest Girma

3.0

Check your trigger warnings before starting this book, it is (as the author has stated) dark.
I did enjoy the first half of the book but the middle lagged and by the end I was having a hard time with the prose and characters.
The setting was dark, gritty, and very well done. The laws given to the school and its alumni was really interesting. I loved that Kidan was there to learn and reclaim her history. However that never happened.
Ultimately Kidan made one weird decision after another to the point where I was no longer shocked by her actions. Instead of the characters growing in their power or utilizing the information learned, they just killed their enemies and acted shocked about it for a minute.
The ending wrapped up well with an interesting layout for book two but I don’t think I will be recommending book one until after I read book two.
