Father's Day by Simon Van Booy

4.0

Harvey loses both her parents at age 6 and is sent to live with her only living relative, an uncle who is a convicted felon that she has never met but has heard her father talk about. The two brothers have not had any contact in several years. Through trial and error a man who is scarred physically, mentally, and emotionally lets a little girl in and a little girl who is also wounded is healed. The story is told in past and present viewpoints of both Harvey and her uncle. It is a reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence, a story of hope and healing.
