Lost Stars by Claudia Gray

5.0

4.5 stars ⭐️ This books has been in my “currently reading” for so long, not because I wasn’t enjoying, I just got distracted by so many other things. I finally finished it though and I really enjoyed it!! This was the first Star Wars book I’ve read and I loved the perspective of following two ordinary people through their journey in the galaxy and being a part of the Empire and Rebellion. Thane and Ciena’s story is a bit of a Romeo and Juliet retelling in space, over the course of years of friendship and betrayal. I loved getting to see how they each struggled with aligning their own values with the choices they made and learning that the purpose they thought they were serving was not what it seemed. My only negative I think would be the ending. I felt like it ended in sort of an odd place for the characters and then it switches to a new point of view of someone we hadn’t heard from before. Not quite as satisfying as I was hoping, however, overall I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by Claudia Gray!! Would highly recommend!!

Edit: Some context, it sounds like there might be a sequel at some point in the future. This makes more sense for how the books ends, so I’m glad. I still wish it would have give us a bit more for our main characters, but we’ll see where they end up in the future.
