The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon

4.0

To be completely honest, I wasn't really expecting such a meaty novel when I picked this up at the store but here we are! Going in, I had expected there to be a lot of romance with a healthy dose of conflict and horrible circumstances that separate the two lovers. In reality, this book offered massively thoughtful content. This novel asked questions like: Does 'fate' really exist? Does 'true love' really exist? How does our past affect our future? And so much more. Above all, I thought that the fact that the two main characters came from families who were immigrants, and how those experiences shaped the characters' lives, was the most important. In this day and age, immigration is a huge topic and I think that this novel dealt with the subject really well.
