A Thousand Boys Kisses is heart-wrenchingly emotional, and utterly unputdownable. It’s evident early on why is it recommended as a book that will bring you to tears, as this happened to me more than once whilst reading, and it’s actually rare that a story actually moves me this much. It’s as though once you have processed one emotional moment, another part of the plot hits you. It’s a book that could be easily devoured in one sitting, but I had to take some little breaks to gather my emotions. 😮💨
The writing style is addictive, you really get invested in their two main characters. Sometimes the most simplistic, character-driven, stories can be the most beautiful.
THAT ending, THAT final twist. Wow. 😭
Can childhood sweethearts, Poppy and Rune, find their way back to one another after they are abruptly ripped apart from one another? Rune’s parents make them move back to their homeland of Norway, after Rune has grown up in America, alongside the love of his life - Poppy.
He moves back after a few years, and has changed a lot. He is now very much the bad boy, not the sweet boy Poppy once knew. He is angry, bitter and jaded towards his parents, and even his little brother who looks up to him.
Poppy is, however, carrying a secret - could this bring them closer together or rip them apart even further? She’s kept it from Rune because she doesn’t want to hurt him. All they want is each other, and to fill the jar that Poppy’s Grandmother left for her, with notes of a thousand of their kisses.
5 Stars and added to my favourites 🥺💖
