Una corte di spine e rose by Sarah J. Maas
1.0

I am genuinely so confused by this book?

I'll try to gather all my thoughts together but it will be hard, because this book is such a mess it's insane. The 4.7 avg rating makes me lose all hope in humanity's reading comprehension, because it's so badly written and structured.

Let's start with the title. A court of thorns and roses. A motif, a theme, what you expect to be a recurring vocabulary through the series.Too bad it's not. Thorns get mentioned like 5 times through the books and it's not very clear what they symbolize??? It's just a flashy title meant to stand out and be edgy and it has no correlation to the story.

Then, the main characters.
The protagonist, Feyre, is so bland it's insane. she's a super skilled huntress somehow, and yet she manages to be stupid and make awful and rushed decisions all the fucking time. She has no personality except for some witty remarks made to build that "enemies to lovers" sort of conflict between her and Tamlin, and she is just so bland and boring it makes no sense for everyone to be so madly in love with her.

For the other characters, I'll be brief
Lucien had more chemistry with Feyre than Tamlin, Tamlin is boring, Alice was used to lore drop. Rhysand is weird as hell and when I discovered he's the endgame love interest I was baffled.

The writing style was so terribly boring. everything about this book was, but the writing style just made it even more boring. Why are her bones barking? Why are there attempts at plot twists every five seconds, even when it totally contradicts the characterisation of the characters?

And last but not least, the plot.
What. was. that. plot??????? If the story had some sort of sense at the start it completely lost it after a while. The curse on Tamlin was so specific I laughed out loud when I heard it, and the whole final arc where she had to go through the three trials was a fever dream. How the fuck did someone sit down, write that and decided it was a good idea. The riddle was so stupid, why was she chased by a worm, why was the ending so??? predictable and stupid.

There was no consistency within the characterization, stuff was just happening and the characters were just empty shells going along with it.

I doubt I will read the other books
