If there is something good that has come from this whole Black Lives Matter situation, a situation that is long overdue, besides the most obvious being human rights, it is finding authors that weren't on my radar before. This was an exceptional book.
There were times it made me feel uncomfortable but at the same time intrigued to see how things were going to play out between Truly and Noah. There was a complexity and vulnerability to them that I was drawn to and I enjoyed watching them come to terms with their baggage. I really enjoyed watching Noah on his path to be better.
I struggled with the side characters, Becca and Ethan, which is why this book didn't rank higher. Aside from the friendship that they offered to Truly and Noah, their relationship and fights didn't really serve a purpose.
Still, a great book. I'll be looking for more from this author.
