Stolen Heir by Sophie Lark
tense
medium-paced
- Plot- or character-driven? A mix
- Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated
3.5
I feel like we're getting closer with just the right balance and for what I'm hoping. Stolen Heir is a bit of a Beauty and the Beast retelling, which aren't really my favorites, but here we are.
I love that Sophie does a really great job shining the light on various elements in her books, one of them being the heroines. I really do like them a lot.
The mafia side of things is always quite interesting and I felt like you're in it more with Stolen Heir. Miko doesn't hold back and can be pretty ruthless. When it came to his past, I thought it would have been discussed more in the present especially with Nessa.
I was surprised a bit as we get closer to the end because there were definitely some things that I didn't expect to be handled the way they were.
Other than that, still very much an enjoyable read, and I can't quite get enough of them.
One thing I wanted to point out is that some of the analogies used in this, I could have definitely done without.
