I think this is the best book I've read all year.
I can't quite pin down what exact thing made this novel so magical, so fantastical, yet also so real.
The description of this book does not do it justice. When I first read the description, I imagined this story to be all about the boys with an annoying main character who is focused on guys no matter what.
This book is nothing like that.
I found Bria to be such a relatable character, so honest and realistic. Her unique voice is funny and truthful, lightening this story and thus it's an incredibly reader-friendly novel.
The descriptions of places, (such as Guatemala and Belize) are vivid and striking, so compelling that I was feeling homesick for these places I've never even been to.
This book is full of important lessons for anyone and everyone. The world is a lot bigger than the town where you live, and this story makes that plain as day. I also enjoyed the references to other great works of fiction all the way throughout the novel, little things that made the characters even more human.
Anyone who travels should definitely read this book. Anyone who doesn't travel but would like to should read this book. Anyone who doesn't want to travel but enjoys reading about other places should read this book.
And if you haven't already got the travel-bug, this novel is sure to give it to you.
