Flash Fire by TJ Klune

4.0

While the effort to change the narrative towards the police in this one felt forced, I appreciate it all the same. There were a lot of things about this story that I found a bit tedious (yes yes, us straights are ~so weird~), but the friendship between Nick, Seth, Jazz, and Gibby really does make this book. I still question his Dad's parenting styles (did TJ's parents have boundary issues?), but I really felt the love they had for each other, and parent/child bonds are some of my favorites.

I liked this a little more than the first one, but not by much. This series is getting dangerously close to the first Xmen trilogy plot wise, so I'm a bit meh about that. HOLY SHIT AT THAT CLIFFHANGER THOUGH.
