Dead to the Last Drop by Cleo Coyle

3.0

This was a cute and fun lightweight rom/com mystery. I read it for a category, "Pun in the title." I enjoyed it enough that I would listen to others in this series, if they are available through the library.
Clare Cosi is opening her new coffeehouse in DC, following the huge success of her NYC Village Blend. Mysteries and problems abound, from her thieving celebrity chef, to the mysterious jazz pianist (President's daughter incognito), to a man breaking into her coffee house/jazz club that seems drunk, and ends up dead! Soon Clare Cosi finds herself on the run from the law, with her favorite lawman at her side.
Sometimes the author is tedious in description of decor, and she is definitely in love with coffee! But I loved the descriptions of jazz music (my dad was a jazz pianist), and the fact that there were hidden rooms under Clare's borrowed mansion that were part of the underground railroad. My dad's house was also part of the underground railroad! So yes, it was fun, and I would like to hear from these characters again.
