Inside the Shadow City by Kirsten Miller

3.0

Picked this up purely based on the cover (I am a big Tara McPherson fan) and was really pleasantly surprised by it. I haven't read too many books like this with characters this quirky. Kiki is a really interesting character and I love her eclectic band of friends. I also really liked that NYC played such a prominent role as a setting/character (the scene with the rats is disgusting). If you like mysteries and precocious teens with a knack for mischief, I think you'll like Kiki Strike. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series.
