Suffer Love by Ashley Herring Blake

1.0

I'm not surprised that I didn't like this book, because I absolutely hated the author's other book, How to Make a Wish. I enjoyed this one better than the other, but still had issues.
My major issue with this book is that we find out the reasons for multiple characters' actions, but never get an explanation for the action of Sam's mom and Hadley's dad. I was really expecting one because it seemed like the author wanted to portray a "there's a reason behind everything" kind of theme. Was really disappointed that we never got even a glance at an explanation besides "our relationship wasn't good".
Another issue that I have with the author's writing is that I feel that the climax of the novel always comes a little too late. I feel that the growth of the characters is not fully fleshed out and feel as if she just patches over things in the last 30 pages.
Near the beginning, there's also a terrorist joke that 1. I don't understand why she would even think of and 2. don't understand how the editors/publisher allowed it.
The book also includes a lot of slut-shaming that really irked me.
Overall, did not enjoy this book. Would not recommend. At all.
