Six of Crows
by Leigh Bardugo
Pro:
- The characters were very unique and quickly grew on me. They all had their specific set of skills which complimented each other perfectly. I absolutely adored Jesper and his quirkiness and his quarrel with Wylan later on.
- I think the subtle display of the characters emotions was written quite nicely, although I wished for more romantic interaction (I know, wrong genre :) ). Maybe I will get more of that in the second book, I keep my fingers crossed.
- The different points of view made the story feel alive and fast-paced. You had a chance to get to know the characters and learn about their reasons and motives.
- This was my first book by Leigh Bardugo and I’m fascinated by the huge world she created, which is not just magical but so fascinating and creative.
- This is a typical fantasy book for me, which I would recommend for older teens or young adults (#violence).
Con:
- It took me 120 pages to get into the plot. Leigh Bardugo introduced way too many characters, clans, settings and side-stories for me to comprehend all at once. (Fun fact: That’s why I never read Game Of Thrones after the first 100 agonizing pages, the plot totally lost me).
- Sometimes the odds were just too obviously in their favour and they got away too lucky. Some twists were too foreseeable, but it was just a tiny little con for me.
