I liked it, but... I'm a little put off by the relationship development. Or non-development, as it may be. These three books have been a pretty steady slow-burn towards a relationship with Desmond, even though there are obvious complications. But then in this book, he's barely present... But okay. When he comes into the story finally, things pick up where they left off, the slow burn finally getting where it's going. And then... I obviously don't know where the next book is going, but something about this just feels like it completely pulled the plug. In a baffling way.

SpoilerShe doesn't get to be mad that he killed Sienna. She killed dozens of people and was sentenced to die. She tortured Mory for months - a child! - and was going to kill her horribly. He's an Alpha. Bitch killed his pack members, including his Beta. She was going to die. I don't give a fuck if Jade doesn't like that - no one close to her was murdered by Sienna, and she doesn't get to judge what the people most victimized by her feel is justice. It makes her seem like a judgemental asshole. And a hypocrite, since she was going to kill Sienna herself.

So I liked it, but I didn't love it. I liked the overall resolution. I liked Drake. I liked that her relationship with her Gran and mom seems to be growing. I liked her father and most of the dragons. I like that she seems to be getting her shit together, a handle on her magic and a better understanding of the magical world.

I'm not going to comment on how 3 months of training with dragons apparently turned her into Kate Daniels with that sword, charging into a demon horde and lopping off heads left and right. La, la, not going to comment.

I'll be reading on though, because overall I like the series a lot. Just miffed on the romantic development.
