After enjoying the first two books in the series, I put this one on hold at my local library. And it wasn't as good as the first two. A lot of the charm of the first two are missing, and Siobhán's treatment at the hands of her fellow Guards just smacks of 'you women don't belong here and you should just quit and save me the trouble of firing you'. Her superior officer is someone I wanted to punch midway through his first couple of sentences.

So, yeah, missing the charm of the first two. However, the murder mystery itself is really good. The genealogy story is fascinating, and I've love to know more about what really happened on the boat between the brothers.
