There were a few mysteries and I was interested from the start but wasn’t blown away by the ending.
Three influencer’s sign up for a game of extreme hide and seek that’s taking place at an abandoned resort. The night of the game, a massive storm comes through the island. The locals urge everyone to leave but no one listens. Disaster strikes and everyone does not leave the island alive.
The more I sit with it, I’m starting to think there was too much happeningwe had POV from Adele (the mom), both of her kids, Maverick, Angeline, the podcaster and “Mavisaliar”. They all helped to move the plot along but it was chaotic switching so often. There was the main plot of what’s happening on the island but then that got broken down into multiple mysteries — what is Maverick hiding, what happened to Alex, is there another person on the island? And then back home, people are still trying to find Miller. Honestly, who cares.
It was a fun audiobook. It held my attention and made me want to finish it for answers. The social media and podcasting elements were cool. Just not the best thriller I’ve read.
