The Lost Vintage by Ann Mah

Absolutely lovely and well researched.
This book made me think a lot about how often we don’t realize what is wrong or right until after the moment has passed. So often I feel like WW2 fiction is hyper-fixated on the resistance - but what about the people who made the wrong choices? Those who chose their own needs above their friends and neighbors? The recounting of what happened to so many of the women in France in the days after the war ended was particularly shocking and upsetting as well.
This book also made me want to sell all my worldly possessions and move to France so a handsome vineyard owner can sweep me off my feet.
