I would like to start by saying thank you to Evelyn Leigh and her team for the opportunity to read an ARC of Shadowed Obsession.
Every time I read Evelyn’s books I find myself repeatedly thinking “Yes! This is how women should be loved.” Shadowed Obsession did not dissapoint on that front. Deirdre, the FMC, is a force to be reckoned with. Don’t let her beauty and kindness fool you. She knows what she wants and does everything in her power to make it happen.
César, the MMC, is so attentive and thoughtful when it comes to his relationships; both at work and at home.It is hard not to fall for him from the moment you meet him.
Throughout the book the banter between these two had me giggling and kicking my feet. I had to slap my hand over my mouth to keep from gasping at the comebacksThe other characters are well thought out and have intriguing backstorys that only add to your curiosity.
The story is fast paced and keeps you invested in the characters.

You absolutely need to read "Shadowed Obsession." This book not only boasts a diverse cast of characters but also centers on main characters who are people of color, a representation that I truly cherish in the Dark Romance genre. Initially, I had my reservations, but by the end of the first chapter, I was completely captivated. The portrayal of Puerto Rican culture had me longing to book a flight home! The food, the vibrant culture, the pride, and the love shared among the Puertorriqueños are beautifully depicted throughout the story.

"Shadowed Obsession" hits all the marks for dark romance enthusiasts:
✔️ A morally gray MMC who is utterly devoted to a strong woman who can hold her own.
✔️ The intriguing, questionable methods the main male character employs to monitor the female lead.
✔️ The tantalizing tension of the "will they/won’t they" dynamic filled with danger and suspense.
✔️ Scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat.
✔️ A book boyfriend you won’t be able to forget… EVER.
Evelyn takes the dark romance genre to new heights by weaving in themes of mental health, growth, grief, and healing. She highlights through her characters the essential nature of self-care and setting boundaries, making this a must-read for anyone looking to explore deeper connections within this genre.
