Rabbit Cake
by Annie Hartnett
Rabbit Cake is Annie Hartnett’s debut book. I loved her sophomore book Unlikely Animals that I had to read this one and it did not disappoint. Hartnett is able to take really tough topics after her mothers death and wrap them in a quirky comedic world told through the eyes of a lovable, smart, and precocious 11 year old girl named Elvis that reminds me of my son.
I love Annie Hartnett’s voice as a writer. She has the ability to take some wildly unique and really tough situations, weave them together seamlessly and present it to the audience within an easy to read format with an emotional and lovable characters that are finding there own way. Her books are truly one of a kind.
