For someone who supposedly cares so much about the environment, the main character certainly doesn’t act the part! I feel like Hazelwood could have put some more thought into it and done more research. She justifies using single-use plastic with the fact she recycles, which is OK if this was anyone else, but her being an environmental scientist is such a big part of this book! We should all be aware that most plastic just doesn not end up getting actually recycled. Also, her eating meat is another little contradiction to all of that. It was just very strange.
