Butterface by Avery Flynn
4.0

This was my first Avery Flynn book and I’m so glad I got a chance to read this before its release.
Butterface was so funny, sweet, steamy, sexy, adventurous, with a little bit of drama and action.
You have Gina who her entire life has been bullied and ridiculed because of her looks. She has a nice body, but according to her, her face doesn’t match, which is why everyone used to call her Butterface.
Ford is a man that comes from a family full of firefighters. It was pretty much expected of him to follow along the same path. When he didn’t do that and decided to become a cop, it caused a lot of issues with him and his family.

Both these characters are outcasts in their own family. Gina wants no relations to her family’s ties to the mob and decides to make a name for herself as an event planner. Ford went against his family and decided to become a cop. In a way, they’re sort of kindred spirits.
When word gets out at the precinct that Gina has family ties to the mob the task force in trying to take down, Ford is asked to infiltrate her life to gather intel.
In an effort to make things as believable as possible, Ford tells Gina that her life is in danger and he wants to stay with her and protect her, and also help around her house renovations that she seems to never get finished.

That’s where the story really starts, well after that delicious yet hilarious and awkward kiss cam scene. Where these two get to really know one another and slowly fall.
I loved Gina and Ford. Their chemistry was SO HOT! And their special moments so, so sweet.

I like that this book shows us that we shouldnt view ourselves the way others wish to. Just because we don’t like the societal norm, doesn’t mean we aren’t beautiful, too.
I can’t wait to see what else Ms. Flynn will give us with The Hartigan series. I’m excited for more!
