If there is one trilogy I will be pushing and suggesting to people, it will absolutely be this one. This was such an amazing finale to this trilogy and it will forever hold a place in my heart.

Following the release of Ruin in the last book, we see how the world has started to fall apart and the destruction of the world seems imminent. Elend and Vin now have to follow the Lord Ruler’s trail in hope of finding a way to save the empire and all the people within it.

I must say that one of the most impressive things about this trilogy is the world building, but this last book absolutely topped the other two. There is such a complexity to this world and you are learning so many new things throughout the book. All the things you slowly learn help to put all the puzzle pieces in place and I had more than a few lightbulb moments when things suddenly clicked. Though it is incredibly complex, Sanderson did an amazing job of introducing it all to us as well as planning throughout the whole trilogy as some questions from the first two books get answered. You really learn about how the world runs and works in this book and I adored that.

I do admit at times it was a little hard to keep up with all the new information, but I wouldn't change a thing. All the information was relevant from what I can see and it feels so good when something clicks in your mind.

As per usual, I adored the characters in this trilogy. You can see in this book how much their character has developed yet they still have aspects of the first time you meet them. You have such a strong emotional connection with the characters and this makes everything they do or that happens to them feel so much stronger.

The plot pace wasn't too fast to the point where it felt rushed, but it was relatively fast paced. There are so many things happening at once in different places which may make it feel faster than it is, but it didn't feel rushed in my opinion. One of my book let peeves is when a plot is rushed so I'm glad this didn't fall into that trap when a lot of things are happening.

As with the first two books, the ending was the most tense and had me hooked. There weren't as many twists in this book, and a lot of the information that the characters realise at some point, I had figured out a while back, but despite this, the ending had me completely shocked. It went in a completely different direction than I anticipated. It was incredibly bittersweet and though it was a beautiful ending, my heart ached by the end of it. If you get emotional during books, I'd suggest having some tissues nearby.

I will forever hold this trilogy, and this particular book, in my heart. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and I will constantly be reccomending this book/trilogy.
