Cinders and Sparrows by Stefan Bachmann

4.0

Cinders and Sparrows is a middle grade book about Zita,a thirteen year old girl who discovers she is from a family of witches and what happens after the discovery.

The setting of the book is spooky and the writing is atmospheric. The plot is great and the story is evenly paced with action and calm alternately. I liked the descriptions of the castles and the creatures.

The word building was excellent and there were twists and turns throughout the book to keep the reader engrossed. The villains were kind of fairytale-ish but they were written very well. I loved the ending of the book.

An excellent middle grade book adults can enjoy!
