This book is a very difficult read (pls. See content warnings). It will rip your heart apart again and again learning about Will and Way's traumatic experiences.
Almost every character in this book has their own tragic backstory, but Will Foster is the one I really feel for, after enduring rejection after rejection at the hands of Waylon, his one exception.
Though the writing is poignant, and narrative well delivered, I can't help but feel that the author tries to pack in every trauma and tragedy possible into the same group of broken people that it's a wonder how these friends cope without some kind of addiction.
I've never had talked to a character (Will) so much and tell him just to walk away. But then if he did, there will be no story.
