this is a villain origin story. it’s a story of nature vs nurture, of how who you are is intimately connected to what you think, want, and do.  snow is a disturbing character, and he’s also, sometimes, (alarmingly) sympathetic. 

my favorite part was noticing breadcrumbs that connect to the original trilogy/katniss’s story.
