Some chapters resonated with me personally more than others. Certainly well-researched.

The 18 lives discussed are pretty centered on the Anglosphere with a couple jaunts into France. Not inherently a bad thing in itself, but it's not something that was obvious from the outset, and it does leave me with some questions about applicability for books made in Central or Eastern Europe or even outside the western world.

Smyth makes for an engaging narrator in the audiobook.
