The Whispering Night by Susan Dennard
3.0
I was excited to be jumping back into the luminaries world thanks to netgalley and publisher for an advanced listener copy.
It took me a good minute to grasp what was going on which i truly feel that was my fault as i forgot a bit of what was going on in the last book. i loved being back in hemlock falls and being with the gang. I enjoyed the way winnie has to try to sovle this mystery and the writing was good.
The narrator was really good, keep up with the different characters and having an accent on a few. The only thing i did not like was the recording in the story i.e a certain part had time stamps and then talking from two different characters and it kinda felt off in my ears.
sadly i feel this read was not as good as the others in the series, sometimes i was confused to why the thing was happening or just did not make sense. I also wished we had more of the "crow" from the ending of book two, I was let down to the discovery of the mystery winnie was trying to solve, the characters felt a bit dull in this read and some times i wondered if certain things would have been better if it was written differently. Lastly i felt like there was alot of repeating, like we have heard many time about certain things yet we are getting reminded of them over and over again.
I do really still care for this series but i am very much hooked on book one the most.
