I really enjoyed this. Working undercover as a high school student, Detective Seth it told to get close to Maggie, suspected heroin user who lives with her abusive, alcoholic mother. He doesn't believe good student and nice girl Maggie is involved but suspects her mother may be and he has been crushing on Maggie so he follows orders and the two fall in love. There are the requisite vengeful drug dealers to add an element of danger, along with the expected fall out from Seth lying to Maggie. While none of this is new or original, it works because it is well written with good characters (and there are so many of this type of story because WE LIKE THEM). Seth & Maggie are likeble and very sweet together. Their actions and reactions are believable. Seth can't tell her what he is doing, then when he can is afraid of losing her. Maggie feels legitimately betrayed and reacts by lashing out and wanting be left alone before forgiving Seth. This all felt real to me as did the timing of Maggie's rejection and forgiveness.
