I really liked this book. I didn't expect to like it in all honestly, I started reading it by accident. It handled heavy topics and working through complicated feelings and trauma shockingly well for a comedy. Tess was relatable in her struggles and self doubt, her character growth was great. Joni was hilarious and endearing, the plot dropped my jaw at certain points. Mostly not 5 stars because I felt like the burn could have either been a little slower or the ignition of the flame a little more flashy if that makes sense. The romance was sweet and entertaining, but not too syrupy sweet and the characters had personality outside of their love interests for the most part which was nice. I didn't expect much walking into this book, but it's actually one of my favourite reads of this year mostly because I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
Overall, it wasn't that deep. It was, campy funny, an easy read that handled heavy topics surprisingly well for the nature of the story. I liked it.
