Honestly, I remembered that I loved this book, but not how much it meant to me specifically. As someone who grew up in a political family (though thankfully not the level of the presidency) and is only now in my 30s coming to terms with how much that caused my to repress my own queer identity, I love how this book captures the pressures of being in the public eye and what it means to follow your heart anyway. All of the characters are so well written, and even the side characters are allowed complete lives and independent motivations.
