Tropic of Capricorn by Henry Miller
3.0
It really has some profound passages, and plenty that I can deeply identify with, but Miller tends to ramble into long dissociative diatribes that can really drag on.
He deals with his inner turmoil in a really blunt manner, and seems to hold nothing back, but sometimes that is to the detriment of the finished product. It would benefit from some sort of structure to break up the stream-of-consciousness narrative into more digestible pieces.
It reminds of Keruoac in the sense that amidst pages and pages of unformatted text and little structure there are moments of true poetic beauty.
