Underworld by Don DeLillo

5.0

I'm somewhat of the opinion that my 5 star rating of Underworld can be explained by cognitive dissonance in the sense that having read 800 odd pages ostensibly about baseball, a sport I don't really care for, seems quite dumb in an objective sense and so I've convinced myself that it was, in fact, a profound book - if only for the sake of mental alleviation.

The other part of me can recall some of the brilliant passages that were scattered throughout the book and some quite deep penetrations into the spirit of the text.

So to sum: even if I've deluded myself, I wholeheartedly recommend this book.
