El Diablo II by M. Robinson

3.0

“Where there was smoke, there was fire. The soles of my boots burned as soon as they crossed the threshold of my mortality. I moved like a man possessed by a demon.”

A classic mafia book. It was okay. I think most mafia lovers will enjoy this book.

I must say, this is the first book by M. Robinson that didn’t move me to tears. I didn’t feel any angst. It wasn’t an emotional book for me like her other books were.
That doesn’t mean this is a bad book -
it just took me off guard by the different writing. El Diablo (first book) had me bawling from the intense angst. He is literally alpha of all alphas in the literary world in my humble opinion.
It made me question if she really wrote this because the books I’ve read of hers are easily five stars.

Now Cruz, (this book) ... I’m not even really sure how to express my feelings with this book. I enjoyed it. But it wasn’t the best from M.Robinson in my opinion. Don’t come after me. I still love her and a huge fan.

Cruz wasn’t the alpha daddy I was thinking he’d be. With all the teasers leading up to this book release, I thought he was going to be even worse than his father. And I have to say, he really wasn’t. He had his moments of acting like the son of the devil. But he was no El Diablo himself.
This boy had heart. This boy just wanted his family united.
He killed. But he loved harder than anything else.
He supposedly grew up having a beautiful life. And then as soon as he realized who his father was, he all the sudden turned into a raging killer and expertise at torturing...Without any type of training?!

And Sienna?! She absolutely hated Cruz for most of the book and couldn’t stand him as months went by without them even talking or sleeping together. But as soon as he brought her horse, it just turned into this weird Love and loyalty. I struggled seeing any connection between these two characters.
The book as a whole, seemed entirely rushed.
I guess I’m bummed out because I usually buy M. Robinson’s books in paperback form as forever re-reads... but I don’t think I’m gonna buy this book at all. Which stinks because I would really love El Diablos son next to him. :/

“You’re my angel and I’ll crucify anyone who thinks it’s your time to fall.”

This book was light in steam. Really none till you’re 95% done with the book.
Light in angst.
Heavy in drama. The good kind.
And overall, a HEA for now.
3.5 stars.
