One Night That Changes Everything by Lauren Barnholdt
1.0

I remembered this book very positively, I probably read it for the first time in 2010-11, and I thought that it was very compelling. Rereading it, I expected to love it as I did the first time. I don't fault the writing for not holding up, but I'd hoped I could at least enjoy a quick read. A few things I just couldn't get past-
the incessant slut shaming of other characters, the "not like other girls" and lack of personality from Eliza, plus Cooper... I am fine with morally gray characters. What I'm not okay with is "Yes I seemed like a terrible person but NOTHING WAS MY FAULT." Because Cooper did make choices, and he did do something wrong. It would have been better if Cooper had been less perfect.
And the incessant slut shaming. It was so pervasive that yes, I'm going to list it twice. Not okay.
