This was was a slow burn story that grew on me and I don’t think I’ll be able to stop thinking about. I appreciate romance novels that have believable conflict and communication issues. I appreciate good representation of neurodivergence. This has both an emotional punch and trippy reflectiveness similar to Everything Everywhere All At Once, a movie that grew on me and I now love. I struggled at the beginning of the book to understand all the narration style. Switching to audiobook for a few chapters helped me orient myself. I laughed, I was sad, I was afraid, and I related so much. I loved these characters. I’m so HAPPY this had a happy ending. I was really nervous that it was going to take a depressingly dark turn, but it gave me so much hope. It’s so cool how much of the authors personal experience inspired this story. I will be revisiting this story. Literary novels can be a challenge, but I so appreciate the inventiveness that’s possible in the genre and the truth telling that’s possible. Definitely a romance for the cerebral and those wanting to be reminded of the lovely things even in the challenges of life.
