We’re finally getting to meet Imari’s family and home in this installment and seeing what happens next in their journey against those using the Maker to push their own agenda.

The first maybe 25% has Imari discovering what it’s like being royalty now that she’s had freedom for the past 10 years and besides being with her family there’s a lot more drawbacks than there are perks. Jeric is finding out he was right to not want the throne with the Jarls being assholes and whatnot. This portion dragged somewhat for me because it seemed like every other fantasy with a royal family. However, from that point on it was all action and movement of the plot and I quite enjoyed it.

The world background gets expanded upon and the motivation for a lot of the secondary characters is more clear here than it was in the first and I can safely say this didn’t feel like a second book filler.

Still not happy with how the Sol Veloreans are treated, but I’m glad Nía got her little vengeance through all the suffering she was put through
