Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe
5.0

I read this for Introduction to Children’s Literature at university. I really loved it. I listened on audiobook and that definitely helped me better understand the phrasing and inflection. I don’t do well with that in my inner voice while I read, and the punctuation and stringy sentences were too long for me to piece together myself.

My favorite parts of the book were when he was on the island by himself and all he had were his thoughts and bare hands. The way this story was told and how Robinson related everything he did either to himself developing as an individual or to his developing relationship with God was inspiring. I left each reading session full of hope for my own life and endeavors in the deed to do daily good! The story also definitely pulled me in because I was thinking about it when I wasn’t reading it. My brain just felt a little deserted and on some remote island in my time away from this book.
