Wolfsong by TJ Klune

5.0

This book. This book has left me wanting so much more, Thankfully there are 3 more books.

This book gives you big emotions, I'm not a crier, but I was for this book. Joe and Ox are just f*cking stellar. This is a book about true found family and love that encompasses all. It is an incredibly slow burn but I found with all of the character building, development and world building, I didn't care. Sure there were moments I was like 'OMG just kiss him, say it,' etc. But Klune has such a way of writing that I was still ensnared, I needed to know what was coming.

This book highlights the story of Joe and Oxnard. You meet them when they are both young and you get to go on the journey of life with them into adulthood. It's told strictly from Ox's point of view which I found I didn't mind. I felt it truly helped you understand and harness the emotions in the story and how it related to characters. I was at first worried about how the romance would develop, you get inklings and ideas before anything is really said or addressed. The way Klune addressed it and made the story flow was perfect.

If you're looking for spice, this doesn't have a lot. The few scenes it does have though leave quite the impact, On the relationships and the emotions behind them. Shifter lore I feel is pretty standard though this was written with some twists that I really enjoyed. It gave it a fresh twist while still paying homage to what it is at it's bones.

This is an absolute must read for any fans of MM romance and/or shifter romances. It is book one of four so far and I cannot wait to start on the next book. All of the books follow characters introduced in this book.
