This series is not for me. It is by no means bad, but the main things I enjoyed about the first book were 1. Clef and 2. The magic system. Other than that, I didn’t care very much about most of the other characters, and the world building (other than the magic system) was fine but didn’t hold my interest. This series has quite a bit of action (mostly sneaking into places and stealing things) and that is honestly not something I personally care about in a book. I tend to be more drawn to characters & interesting world building and this series just didn’t have enough to hold my interest. The only reason I finished Shorefall was because I skimmed through the more action-heavy scenes just to get through the book because I knew
Clef would be back
and that might renew my interest in the series. But unfortunately, I got to the end and still do not have any motivation to continue to the next book, so I will DNF the series.

If you are someone who likes a lot of action in books, you’ll probably like this more than me! I don’t think this book has any major flaws that detracted from my enjoyment, it is just not the type of story I am interested in. The magic system is super cool and unique.
