T. Kingfisher writes different stories using the same main female protagonist: mousy, dumpy, with low self-esteem. The protagonist is also kind, awkward, and sweet, and tries her best in the face of challenges set before her. I don't dislike the characters, but the stories tend to feel same-y after a while.
I did not like the narration, which felt flat.
