When initially finishing this book i felt a little disappointed but the more it’s sat with me throughout the day, the more my affection for it has grown.

It’s character driven, so at times it felt tedious & slightly mundane yet I still couldn’t put it down. The imagery is so vivid and atmospheric, I was so immersed in this world that now it feels strange to have left it.

Donna Tartt is such a clever & incredible writer, the characters were so fleshed out it’s hard to believe they are fictional. It’s really interesting now being able to see how the book intertwined with Greek tragedies and mythology.

If you feel comfortable reading slow + character-oriented fiction & love introspective, dark academia books then this is for you.
