The Diviners by Libba Bray
4.0
with one of my favorite trilogies being the Gemma Doyle series, i had high expectations coming into this book and Libba Bray blew me away yet again. in middle school, i loved reading and rereading her best series (in my not-at-all-an-expert opinion). learning years later that she has another series completely shocked me and i was very excited to see The Diviners when i went to check out A Great and Terrible Beauty for the umpteenth time.
usually i am a very skeptical person when i read another book from an author i adore because i’m afraid it won’t exceed my expectations, but this book definitely did! the only reason i could really tell it was Bray was because of her style of writing, which is obvious most of the time: very descriptive in minor scenes. i think that’s also why i love her books so much is because i write exactly the same way, trying to be very descriptive so readers can get every exact detail and imagine it the way i would.
overall, i am very excited to start the 2nd book in the series and with the 4th one coming out soon, i’m going to have to take it all in while i can. hopefully a book tour is in her future!
