The Three-Body Problem
by Cixin Liu
Disjointed, tone was all over the place. felt like it was written by different authors stitched together. a couple of the most annoying characters I've ever encountered in fiction. The sections taking place in the past (cultural revolution and the section at the red coast base) were quite interesting and well written but the majority of the book that takes place in the present is mostly just odd. not sure if the issue is translation, perhaps some of it is tongue in cheek and the humor doesn't translate.
