I wanted to like this book, but it just didn’t pull me in. There were times it felt like the characters leapt from one emotion to another and back again in rapid succession, so you didn’t really have time to process why they were reacting that way or understand where they were coming from. There was also a lot more telling than showing. I made it about 30 percent in before I started skimming.
