This graphic novel is so cute and a great choice for elementary school libraries! While the characters are in the 8th grade, the book is very G-rated I think works for younger middle grade readers. I am horrible at reading graphic novels because I have to force myself to take my time and notice all the details, but I was able to really enjoy this one! The illustrations are so cheerful and well-done, and they really tell the story just as much as the dialogue. It blows my mind how these creators can develop such a layered storyline out of comics and speech bubbles! This book is on next year’s list in Missouri as a Mark Twain nominee, and I definitely think it will be a big hit, not only because of its format, because of its unique content, lovable characters, and fast-paced and relatable storyline!
